Anya Gallaccio

'Motherlode'

'Motherlode' is Anya Gallaccio’s response to an invitation to make a site-specific work in Sonoma, California by the San Francisco-based New Langton Arts. The artist’s project is a unique attempt to produce a portrait of the county, using the essence of the land; its soil and the fruit it bears, to create six distinct Zinfandel wines.

The final result is that Gallaccio has created two editions of the six different bottles of wine with offset labels designed by the artist and wax seals in the same colour as the soil samples where the vines grew. The bottles are housed in pine and redwood boxes, branded and signed by the artist.
